What is the main difference between cryptocurrency and Bitcoin?

Both technologies are based on cryptographic encryption techniques. The public-private key system is often used, and many utilize blockchain technology.
Without going into the technical details, however, Bitcoin and other crypto projects have little in common.
What fundamentally distinguishes them is decentralization. None of the altcoin projects still in existence today possess true decentralization. There are a few attempts, but only Bitcoin has managed to develop this characteristic. As described in the article on decentralization, it cannot be created or built. Like an organism, it can only develop on its own.
